Modern Art per se did not consider the regular subjects such as flowers, nature, sunset etc as the only subjects worthy of painting. Just anything was accepted as a subject. For example, a group of urchins playing next to an overflowing dustbin is still regarded as a subject for painting.

ART FOR ART SAKE
Art was Initially serving a utilitarian purpose, followed by imperial, private, civic, and religious patronage. The distinct schools of Eastern and Western paintings later found audiences and patrons in the aristocracy and the middle class.
Cubism is one of the most influential art movements of the 20th century that was pioneered by great names such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Andre Lhote, Jean Metzinger, Albert Gleizes, Robert Delaunay amongst others. Cubism term is broadly used in connection with a wide variety of art produced in Paris and its precincts such as Montmartre, Montparnasse, and Puteaux during the early 20th century up to 1920s.
Art movement such as Cubism is a 20th-century art movement bringing the European painters and sculptors together and enabled them to move forward successfully towards 20th century Modern Art. Cubism as such had its impact in other fields of art such as architecture, literature, and music. Cubism brings the 3rd dimension into the picture clearly making a stunning painting of immeasurable beauty.
